Sexy Bandage Dresses
It goes without saying that Hervé Léger has a dedicated group of bandage-dress consumers who will purchase a clingy number no matter the season. It makes sense then that creative director Lubov Azria includes them in every collection. She’ll slightly tweak the jacquard incarnations, adding a D-ring strap here or there, or will drizzle on the embellishments. For those who prefer a pant but still love the fit of jacquard, she tends to throw in a jumpsuit, too.
Azria is skilled at reinventing the label’s staple with new fabrics. This season, she meshed the idea of romantic dressing with the body-hugging aesthetic of Hervé Léger, mostly by utilizing the light, semi-sheer fabric pointelle. The combination of pointelle and the structured feel of jacquard was refreshing; it made the bandage dress look sweet, rather than in-your-face sexy. Unexpected pointelle hits were the collection’s most covered-up and the least fitted options, like a white off-the-shoulder frock or a royal blue pleated, cape-shouldered dress with a bandage torso. There was variety when it came to silhouette, too. A bandage dress that resembled a skirt and top set could easily transition from modest-enough 9-to-5 attire to something more evening appropriate.
